SPRINGFIELD - Mildred E. "Millie" Banaitis, 91, of Springfield died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.

She was born in Springfield, May 22, 1917, the daughter of Carl and Nellie Buhr Bomke. She married Clemens J. Banaitis in Springfield in 1972.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as two brothers, Earl and Ray Bomke.

Millie worked for the Kressge Department Stores, Pillsbury Mill, and then retired from Franklin Life Insurance Co. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church ELCA.

Surviving are her husband, Clemens "Clem"; her brother, Clarence (wife, Marie) Bomke; and a sister-in-law, Teresa Bomke, all of Springfield. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements for Mrs. Banaitis are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., where visitation will be from 4-6 PM Sunday. Additional Visitation will be from 1:00 PM Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church 2477 W. Washington until time of services there at 1:30 PM. Rev. Paul J. Olson will officiate. Burial will follow in Farmington Cemetery at Farmingdale, west of Springfield.
