William A. Beal, 66, of Springfield, formerly of Athens, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Athens, the son of Alfred and Esther Buhr Beal.

He married Patricia Ann Bender in 1952, in Athens; she preceded him in death in 1993.

He also was preceded in death by a son, George Beal.

Mr. Beal was a race car driver for 25 years and a truck driver.

Survivors: three daughters, Jeannie (husband, Eugene) Frakes and Carol (husband, Jerry) Basso, both of Athens, and Vickie (husband, Allan) Freeland of Glasford; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jane (husband, Leroy) Donley of Yuma, Ariz.; four brothers, Robert Beal of Springfield, Ray Beal of Williamsville, Roy Beal of Missouri, and Ronnie Beal of Athens; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Mott and Henning Funeral Home in Athens, the Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.

Burial: Hall Cemetery in Athens.
