Boris was a Russian statesman and liberal politician, a current member of regional parliament of Yaroslavl Oblast, a co-chair of the RPR-PARNAS political party (a part of Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe), one of the leaders of the Solidarnost movement and an outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin. He was murdered less than 200 metres from the Moscow Kremlin walls and Red Square on Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge.
