She was born March 22, 1925, in Chester, to Omer and Kate Atchison. She married James Adkisson in 1947. As an Air Force wife, Eleanor lived in several states as well as Germany and France in the 1950s. She took great pleasure in being a homemaker, wife and mother. Eleanor was a longtime member of
Westminster Presbyterian Church and Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally Nathan (Philip) of Leesburg, Va., and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Eleanor will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1700 Crescent Drive, Champaign. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
