Epherim is the seventh son of Humphrey Barbour and Mary McLellan of Scotland. He married Margaret McPhie on Mar 15, 1865 in Erin, Wellington, Ontario. To this couple - 3 sons were born. Humphrey b. 1866, Archibald b. 1867 and William b. 1869. Sadly, Margaret died 4 months after baby William's birth, leaving Ephraim with 2 small boys and an infant to care for.

He married Margaret Currie on Nov 4, 1870 in Erin, Wellington, Ontario. With the 3 sons from Epherim's first marriage - they raised 11 children, losing two infant sons. (The stone says 3 infants - so one has not been documented)
