Caroline was still living in 1870 when the Clardy family was recorded in Hernando County, but must have died sometime afterward as Jesse moved to Texas in the mid 1870s. With him came daughters Lawrence Adelia Boswell, Mary Wynn, Sally and Alice, and son Stacy.
In 1877 Jesse remarried to Mrs. Margret Hill, a widower with four children: Martha Hollingsworth, Eloise Hill, Ellen Hill and John F. Hill. Jesse and Margret had four children together: Joseph, Maggie, Ellis and Bob.
When Jesse died in 1887 he left Margret with almost 300 acres of land and a sizable herd of cattle.
