"Kure Beach - Worth B Martin Jr., of 310 K Ave., formerly of Lumberton, died Friday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born to the late Worth B and Beulah Kinlaw Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Ivey Martin, two brothers, Tilden Silas Martin, and Fred Martin and two sisters, Virginia Martin Tyner and Joyce Martin Wall.

Martin graduated from Lumberton High School and Presbyterian Junior College of Maxton. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member and Chapter 7 Commander for the Disabled American Veterans Association in Lumberton.

He was a co-owner of By-Lo Oil Company with his brother, Howard, before retiring to Kure Beach. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lumberton and Kure Beach Baptist Church.

Funeral services with be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Dr. J.D. Herchenhahn and Rev. Joe Bounds officiating. Internment will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

Surviving are two sons, Danny Martin of Lumberton and Jerry Martin of Wilmington; a daughter, Glenda M. Martin of Statesville; three brothers, Howard Martin, David Martin, and William Martin, all of Lumberton; a sister Mary Ellen Jones of Hampton, Va.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary, Inc. in Lumberton and at other times at the home of his son Danny Martin, 408 W. 34th St., Lumberton."
