this my uncle pancho.his dad raised my mom-socorro talavera ramirez-as his own.he was a war veteran.he had worked for many years as a chef at different restaurants in new york and new jersey.holidays were always looked forward to because he did most of the cooking.but for the christmas and new years holiday he made home-made coquito.but in 1981 he moved back to Puerto Rico due to illness.he had been a very smoker for decades and it was taking a toll on him.he easily made friends wherever he went.when he passed away in his sleep after many years of smoking he left a hole that can never be filled.since he was a vet he was to be laid to rest at arlington, but instead he wished to be buried in puerto rico.he said he wanted to be home. I miss the days of going to his house on canal street and running around the old coal factory across the street from his house.we`d all go and hangout there and then have dinner at his house.that coal factory is now a boys n girls recreation center, but to me its where we`d run around and sit under the weeping willows waiting to be called in for a dinner made by my uncle.I miss that and he`s deeply missed by us all.
