Her mother Mary Jane Burtsfield listed it as "Alfred Slick", however, no proof was ever found that Alfred Slick - a farmhand - was, in fact, her father, nor did slick leave any document that tested to the that fact. As a baby, and until she married, Alfreda used the surname "Burtsfield" and never "Slick". Mary Jane never told anyone who the father was other than using the name Alfred Slick, and would answer no questions about Slick.
Alfreda was raised by her mother, upon her grandfather's farm in Scott Township.
Proof of internment comes from Ohio Death Certificate 1928-4555. Rodney Otis Britton as the informant. While "Apoplexy" is listed as the cause of death, she more likely died of a heart attack.
