Karen passed away as a result of a crash with a Fed-Ex truck. The crash happened at the intersection of Hildebrand Boulevard and Highway 395 on Tuesday, October 19th. Witnesses told troopers a Fed-Ex truck ran a red light and hit two other cars. The truck, which was going north on the highway, first hit a Toyota Camry before colliding with Karen, who was crossing Highway 395 in her van. The crash was at 4:15 p.m. The driver of the FedEx truck, Timothy C. Rieksts, 48, of Pasco, and the driver of the Camry, Alex Teimouri, 53, of Kennewick, were treated at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Karen was initially declared brain dead at Kennewick General Hospital. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for organ donation, however doctors there found some brain activity. She remained there in serious condition. State Patrol Detectives are still asking for information from anyone who witnessed the accident.
