Ora Marie Baker (Myre) died January 16, 2007.
She was born March 28, 1928 in Dallas, TX to William and Mamie Ophelia Scarbrough. A mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, Marie joined her family in heaven being in the presence of God after a long illness. She was a hostess at Wyatt's Cafeteria in Pleasant Grove for twenty years. Marie later went to Henderson College and became a nurse. Marie was a member of Edgemont Park Baptist Church where she had her second baptism and had friends dear to her heart. She was a very loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Marie will be missed by all. Mrs. Baker (Myre) was preceded in death by her husband Joe Myre, youngest son James, oldest son Billy, and grandson Jimmy Doyle Myre. Also waiting for her in heaven are brothers Benny Joe (Little Joe) and Curly (O.L.) Scarbrough. Marie is survived by daughter Sandra Baker and son-in-law Stan, son Gary Myre and daughter Brenda Barton; two brothers, William Scarbrough and Gary Scarbrough; grandchildren Rick, Randy, and Ron Baker, Sherri Sims, Buddy Wayne Barton, Joey, Brad, and Gary Myre Jr. (Butch); granddaughter-in-law Suzanne Baker; great-grandchildren Chasity, Courtney, Kaylea, Colton, and Nikki Baker, Lauren, McKenzie, and Bryan Barton; and two great-great grandchildren Presley and Caleb.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. January 20, 2007, at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Holmes officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Edgemont Park Baptist Church.
