On September 5, 2016, Craig changed his residency to Heaven so he wouldn't have to make a decision in the next presidential election. He lived on the beach in Destin, Florida, with his high school sweetheart and wife, Cathy. He enjoyed fresh seafood and fishing with his grandson, Cooper. Their favorite way to spend the day was to get up early, catch a bunch of fish, then have Grandma fry up dinner while they reminisced about the ones that got away. When they weren't fishing, they were watching baseball and enjoying a friendly rivalry between the Marlins and the Braves.

Craig was the son of Max and Patricia Smith. He graduated from Logansport High School, Logansport, Indiana, in 1975. After high school, he served as an Army Paratrooper at Ft. Bragg. However, he always had an affinity to numbers, and this led to a successful career in banking and finance. His well-known math skills led to many successful businesses and winning streaks of Blackjack. So much so, that the casinos may be relieved when they read this announcement. His current endeavor included the title Executive Director at the non-profit Neurocures. His passion for this position allowed him to help others while exploring his personal science and medical interests.

Craig will be missed by his son, Matthew, and his wife Michelle. He will also be missed by his daughter, Dr. Stephanie Smith, who never had he right tools for the household job she asked him to do. His sidekick and favorite buddy, Cooper, will fondly remember their silly inside jokes. His sister, Molly, and her husband, Joel, will also miss him.

Craig was preceded in death by his sister, Sherry.

A celebration of His life was held at Camden Methodist Church on September 24, 2016. Guests were encouraged to share their favorite jokes that he told them. The family assured everone that they knew how ridiculous some of the jokes were--they had apparently heard them before...
