A 19-year-old Anderson woman died Friday afternoon at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie of injuries sustained in a car-train collision May 8.
Sheena Chambers, 2450 Lincoln St., died at 1:40 p.m. Friday, May 21, in the intensive care unit of severe head injuries suffered in the wreck, according to Rodney Qualkinbush, Delaware County coroner. Mrs. Chambers never regained consciousness and had been in the intensive care unit since the collision, Qualkinbush said.
Mrs. Chambers was a passenger in a car driven by her husband when it was struck broadside by a train at a railroad crossing on County Road 375N near County Road 50W shortly after noon on May 8, county police said. Investigators said the Chambers car failed to stop for the train.
Mrs. Chambers was taken to Ball Hospital with head and internal injuries.
Born March 16, 1957, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Carl and Thelma (Allen) Current. On March 6, 1976, in Anderson, she was married to Mark Chambers.
Sheena attended Washington Elementary and Fairview Junior High Schools in Logansport. She then attended Logansport High School through eleventh grade, where she was a member of Health Careers Club, Cheerblock, Concert Choir, the school newspaper staff (Magpie), and the school yearbook staff (Tattler). She graduated in 1975 from Pendleton Heights High School in Pendleton, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Top Ten Percent, Quill & Scroll, Sunshine Society, the yearbook staff (Scimitar), and Concert Choir. She played Marion the Librarian in the Concert Choir's production of "The Music Man".
She is survived by her husband, Mark of Anderson; her father and step-mother, Carl and Sally Current of Logansport; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Sally Chambers of Anderson; brothers Carlyle Current of Montgomery, Ala., and Chris Current of Eaton, Ohio; sisters Michelle Davis of Houston, Tex., and Debbie Connor of Sulphur Springs; half-brother Carl Current Jr., half-sisters Carolyn and Thereasa Current, and step-brother Nickie Hicks, all of Logansport; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Judith Lambert of Logansport.
Her mother and a sister, Vicki, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 24, at Baker Brothers Funeral Home, located at Eleventh St. and Fletcher Ave., in Anderson. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.

I have never had another friendship like the one I had with her. What a beautiful spirit! I still think of her every day and am still heartbroken by the loss of her.
