Solly ZUckerman, Baron Zuckerman. British Zoologist and political adviser. Born in Cape Town in British Cape Colony (South Africa).He attended Oxford University in 1934 and is known for a scientific adviser to the Allies on bombing strategy during WWII. A professor of anatomy at Birmingham (1946-68) and chief scientific adviser to the British government (1964-71). He carried out extensive research into primates, publishing such classic works as 'The Social Life of Monkeys and Apes' (1932). He was knighted in 1956 and made a life peer in 1971. He died of a heart attack in London, England at the age of 88.
