He was undoubtedly from the Scotch Settlement there and probably had no Irish blood whatever, as was the case of most of the Scotsmen who went first to Northern Ireland, and then moved across the ocean to America in search of religious freedom.

This cemetery is also known as Old Salem Cemetery and Salem Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
