Mr. James Clyde Blakley, Jr., 79, died August 16, 2010 at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina and lived in Sebastian for 4 years coming from Vero Beach, Florida.

He served 22 years in the U. S. Army and retired as a Sergeant First Class in 1971 and was a Vietnam Veteran. After moving to Vero Beach, he worked for Piper Aircraft for 21 years before his retirement in 1993.

Survivors include his wife of 4 years Elsie Blakley of Sebastian, daughters, Christina Stoddard of Clinton, MD, Sandra Blakley of Sebastian; son, Jim Blakley of Scott Air Force Base, IL, stepson, Donald DeWitt of Seaside Heights, NJ, stepdaughters, Cindy Allen of Jackson, NJ, Penny Radigan of Old Bridge, NJ, sisters, Pat Kirby of Vero Beach, Deborah Blakley Redway of Hartsville, TN, 16 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by his wife Elisabeth Blakley and grandson Lt. Christopher Stoddard, USAF.

Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

SERVICES: Visitation will be 10:00 AM on August 20, 2010 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A Celebration of his Life will follow at 12:00 P.M. on August 20, 2010 at the Funeral Home with Rev. John M. Kerry of Asbury United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery.
