Born Sept. 27, 1927, in Geneva, Ill., the son of Jesse L. and Pearl (nee Loveless) Acker, he died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000 in Gainesville, Fla., from injuries sustained in a automobile accident.
A resident of Elgin for most of his life, he was employed as an operating engineer with Garbe Iron Works in Aurora and then was the owner of Acker Transport Company until retiring in 1999.
Survivors include his sons, Jeffery ( Lou-Ann) Acker of Carpentersville and Brian Acker of Fox River grove; grandson, Allan Acker; granddaughter, Jessica Acker, and brother, William (Carolyn) Acker of Elgin. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
