Leah was the daughter of Capt. Elmer W. and Nettie T. {Upham} Freeman. Her first husband was Joseph Russell Davis. They had one child, Robert James Davis, b. 1931, d. 1996. Her second husband was Douglas Brooks, whom she divorced. Her third husband was Bernard Bergren. She also had a daughter, Linda Brooks. Leah's obituary follows:

Leah Davis Bergren, 92, died Aug. 25 at her Fort Myers, Fla.,home after several years of declining health. She was the wife of Bernard Bergren. They had been married 36 years. She was born in Thomaston, Nov. 3, 1905, the daughter of Elmer W. and Nettie Upham Freeman, attended Rockland schools and was a graduate of the former Rockland Commercial School. She assisted her first husband, J. Russell Davis, in running the Davis Funeral Home business which he owned on Main Street in Thomaston. Following his death in 1946 she continued the business from its new location at 22 Knox St., until she retired in 1970 to her home in Fort Myers.

Mrs. Bergren was a graduate of the funeral directors' college at New England Institute in Boston. She was the first woman president of the Maine Funeral Directors Association, taking office in 1956. She was active in The Zonta Club in Rockland, the Order of the Eastern Star in Thomaston and various civic activities.

She enjoyed people and was friend to many. She enjoyed entertaining at her Florida home. She was predeceased by husbands J. Russell Davis and Douglas Brooks, her brother Charles Freeman and her son Robert Davis.

Survivors include her husband Bernard Bergren of Fort Myers, Fla.; a daughter,Linda Brooks of New Mexico; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

There will be no visiting hours. A graveside committal service will he held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Village Cemetery in Thomaston, the Rev. Wesley Woodman officiating. Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home of Thomaston.
