Jack was my beautiful double dapple mini dachshund. He was my shadow and my baby. He had the most beautiful blue eyes. My kids bought him as a Christmas gift for me. He was the last in his litter to get adopted and weighed just 1.2 ounces at 6 weeks old, when I got him. Poor thing had laryngitis from crying so much, but once I got him, it was love at first sight. Jack loved to be outside chasing birds and squirrels and rabbits. He was an excellent mouse catcher. He always slept with me near my head. He could say "mommy" , and he would say it whenever I would come home.He started to get sick about a year and a half before he died. He started bleeding when he urinated and the Vet said his prostate was huge. They put him on meds and it stopped the bleeding. But 6 weeks later, it started again. We kept him on the meds but it would stop for 6 weeks, then it would start again. They said they could try surgery, but he would never make it off the table. Towards the end, he could not poop and his poor butt was so swollen. It was with great sorrow, I had to make the decision to let him go.I could not go in with him, I was too distraught. The funny thing is whenever he would go to the Vet, he would not leave my side. This time,l held him and as I was fighting back the tears , I kissed him and told him I loved him and it would be alright. He nuzzled me and went right with the nurse. I miss you Jackie and I will love you forever. Even now, I can't fight back the tears. Thank you to my dear friend Saralyn for fixing my baby boys picture! Love ya girl!
