ALBERT, LAVERNE REGINA (SCHINDLER), 84, of Jeffersontown, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009 at Glenn Ridge Health Care Campus.

She was the first secretary for Albert Oil Company, a warrior saying the rosary and she loved and cherished her family more than anything.

She was a native of Butchertown and worked as a registered nurse in private care and the old St. Anthony's Hospital. She was a member of St. Edward Church for 58 years and past member of St. Ann's Confraternity, past volunteer for Right to Life and Little Sister's of the Poor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Norman Schindler, sister, Mildred (Millie) Young and grandson, Christopher Albert.

Mrs. Albert is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Hazel Alvin Albert; sons, Barry Albert (Sondra), Terry Albert and Denis Albert (Connie); daughters, Sheryl LaMaster (Jim) of Sellersburg, IN, Karen Mason (Don), Susan Kaelin (Allen), Cindy Barnes (Don) of Valparaiso, IN, and Donna Weber (Kim); a brother, Kenneth Schindler (Gin) as well as 23 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Funeral service celebrating LaVerne's life will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2009, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 9608 Sue Helen Dr., with burial to follow in St. Edward Cemetery. Visitation, for family and friends, will be from 3 8 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Glenn Ridge Health Campus for her care during the last six months.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mass of the Air or her church in her name.
