Wilmont (sic) Barnes, youngest son of C. H. Barnes, who resides three miles southeast of the city, was drowned in a creek near home Monday afternoon. The boy, who was fourteen years old, went in bathing with a companion, Frank Hanson, just after the cloud burst that raised the waters in the creek to a great hight (sic). He was swept away by the force of the current. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon, Rev. Clough conducting the service, and the body buried at New Centerville beside the remains of a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barnes. The afflicted parents have the sympathy of all in this calamity that has so sudenly (sic) befallen them.
