Thomas Alderson was b.in 1840 in England. He immigrated to the United States and served in the Civil War serving under the Wisconsin 31st Infantry, Co.E. I do not know when he married, but all of his children were born in the 1870's, so I am assuming that he and Anna McLeod Alderson (Oct 5, 1844-Sept 14, 1912) married following the end of the conflict, after 1865. None the less, they settled in Palestine, in Benton County, most likely in the 1870's and the following children were born to them: Marguerite b.1876, Ethel b.1877, and Howard b.1879. Ethel died at the age of 14 yrs. and was buried at the Palestine Cemetery in Palestine, Benton County. Howard Pennington Alderson married @1910 to a woman named Anna. They lived in Center in Linn County where they raised 2 sons, Cecil and Clair, and a daughter, Irene. Sadly though, Howard's father did not live to see his son marry or his grandchildren born, as he died at the age of 58, on Aug 30, 1898. He was buried at Palestine Cemetery in Palestine, Benton County in row 16, sharing a headstone with his daughter, Ethel, who had passed in 1891. Thomas's Civil War info was provided by Dorothy Burt on Anna McLeod Alderson's memorial. Other info gathered from death certs., censuses, and research.
