Frank Ackerman was the son of German immigrants, born in Linn County, Oregon, USA on Dec 14, 1884. He married Ella Allen, also the child of German immigrants, and they lived on a farm near Suver, Polk County (North of Jefferson), Oregon. The 1920 U S Census shows them living on their farm with a daughter, Frances Isabella, age 2, b.1918 in Oregon. The 1930 U S Census shows Frank, Ella and Isabella still living on the farm, along with a new child, a daughter named Barbara, age 8, b.1922 in Oregon. Also, Ella had been diagnosed with breast cancer on June 4th, 1929; by the time Ella died, on May 27, 1930, it had spread to her liver. Frank was now a widower with two daughters to raise. He sold his farm in Suver and purchased a farm in the Fairmont neighborhood of North Albany, Benton County, Oregon. At sometime between late 1930 and 1935, Frank would meet Elizabeth Hall, another child of German Immigants. She and her parents had come to Oregon from Nebraska. Her mother, Julia (Dittrick) Hall (1865-1932)[b.Austria], and father, John C. Hall, (1859-1942)[b.Isle of Raegan, North Sea, Germany], had come to America as children and had married in 1885. John was a nurseyman and his daughter, Elizabeth, was a school teacher. They arrived in Oregon in 1912. Elizabeth initially taught school while living in a boarding situation, in 1920. Her mother, Julia, died on Dec 27, 1932, and Elizabeth moved home after that. Sometime between 1930-1935, Frank Ackerman and Elizabeth Hall married. By 1940, the couple had opened a floral shop in Albany and both were florists when they answered the questions on the 1940 Census. Frank's daughters were not in the home (and I couldn't find them). Elizabeth's father, John Hall, died from stomach cancer on June 7th, 1942. He was buried next to his wife, Julia, at the Masonic Cemetery, Albany, Linn County, Oregon, USA. Elizabeth inherited her father's Nursery business, which helped their floral shop. Both Frank and Elizabeth operated the shop as florists, per the 1940 U S Census. Elizabeth had been diagnosed with arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) in 1945 and, by 1960, it had gotten to the point that she could not work in the shop and could not function at home. She was apparently so ill that Frank felt he had to place her at Reids Nursing Home in April, 1960. I'm sure he went to visit her as often as he could, as they had been married over 20 years. But her health failed and on Sept 7th, 1960, just five months after she entered the nursing facility, Elizabeth died from Apoplexy (paralysis caused by the sudden breakage of a blood vessel in the brain). Frank was, again, a widower. He would not marry again. He buried Elizabeth near her parents at the Masonic Cemetery in Albany, Linn County, Oregon, USA. Frank lived on for almost another 13 years. He died during the month of August, 1973 in Warrenton, Clatsop County, Oregon. [I believe one of his daughters may have lived there and he was staying with them, but cannot be sure.] He was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Albany, Linn County, Oregon, USA, next to his 1st wife, Ella, with whom he shared a headstone in plot 71n. May they all Rest in Peace.
