Born on Oct 5th, 1844 in Pennsylvania to an English father and Scottish mother, Anna McLeod married Thomas Alderson, (b.1840 in England) and they settled in the Palestine area of Benton County, Oregon. Thomas Alderson had served in Co. E of the 31st Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War and I am assuming that they married after he returned from the war. Their marriage produced two daughters and a son that I have found. Their 1st daughter was Marguerite, b.1876. Their 2nd daughter was Ethel, b.1877. Their only son, Howard Pennington Alderson was b.in 1879 when the family had traveled to Illinois (stated on all U S Censuses & his death cert.) but returned to Oregon within the next 10 years or so. The family was living in Benton County in 1891 when Ethel died at the age of 14 on June 6, 1891. She was buried at the Palestine Cemetery. Thomas died in 1898, at the age of 58, and was also buried at Palestine Cemetery, next to his daughter, Ethel, sharing the same memorial stone with his child. His son, Howard married, his wife's name being Anna, the same as his mother's, and the marriage producing three children, 2 sons and one daughter. Cecil was b.1909, Irene was b.1913 and Clair was b.Jan.1917. Unfortunately, Anna never got to see her last two grandchildren as she passed from this life on Sept 14th, 1912 at 1083 W 8th St, Albany, Oregon, of pneumonia at the age of 66 years, while at the home of her son, Howard. She was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Albany, Oregon, in plot 74n.
May she Rest In Peace.
