Hello,
Jessie Dalton Allen was b.in Bonham, Fannin Co., Texas in 1894. His parents were William H.Allen, b.@1867, TN & Jane (Reed) Allen, b.Alabama. Jessie died at the hospital at Sherman, Grayson County, Texas from a intracerebral hemorrhage. He was a farmer, lived on Route 1, Wharton, Texas when he had his farm. The only address they put down for him on his death cert. was the address of the hospital where he died on Apr 27, 1972. I made a copy of it, if you need it. His wife is distantly related to me, a 3rd cousin, which is why I am hoping you can update his memorial. They had one child, a daughter, Alice M., b.@1927, per the 1930 Census. I believe his father, is buried at Preston Bend Cemetery in Grayson Co, Texas, under W.H.Allen (William Haden), who lived with Jessie when the 1930 Texas Census was taken. He is FAG#44921154.
I wasn't able to find Jessie's mother, Jane. I don't know when or where she died--Wm. was a widower in 1930 & I checked all of the Jane (Reed) Allens buried in Texas, but none of them matched her criteria, b.@1867, d.before 1930. I tried to find her death cert. but had no luck, so don't know when or where she died except that it was before 1930. So there you have it. Please update what you can for him. Or transfer to me and I will gladly update him. I'll want his wife as well, please, since she is my actual blood relative, but will come to that when and if the time comes. Otherwise, just consider this good, confirmed information to please add into "J D Allen's" memorial, along with the other info I gave you.
I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanking you in advance for the work you've done on Find A Grave, I am
Sincerely Yours,

Children: Alice, b.1927. Social Security Death Index has his last address listed as Collinsville, Grayson, Texas, which is where he actually lived, so I am correcting his place of death in his memorial to Collinsville to match the SSDI, which I prefer anyway. I am still unable to locate 1940 US Census. Updated Dec 5, 2012

Additiion information has come to me regarding Jessie's father. He was William Haden Allen, b.May 7, 1876 (per his WWI draft registration in which he listed his mother, Martha Gudgel, as his closest living relative). William's father, Newton Milton Allen, had died in 1891. Martha had remarried in 1893 to Thomas Jefferson Gudgel & they lived in Madill, Oklahoma, formerly known as Indian Territory, OK. Two children were born from this marriage, one of whom died before his 3rd birthday. Apparently Martha J. was in the home when the 1900 Census was taken; she listed herself as William's wife (instead of his mother), amended her DOB, and made an error re: Jessie's month of birth. I think she may have been staying with William and his children after William's wife passed away, to assist them during their time of mourning. I also found that Jessie had an older sister named Sophia A. b.July 1887. They lived in Quinlan, Hunt Co., Texas. The 1910 Census has "Samanta J." as Wm's wife, b. in 1864. The family is living in Baylor County, Texas. I don't know if Martha was there in 1910 again or if William answered the census taker's questions or if a Samantha J. was actually in the home. But, now I have the correct father for Jessie Dalton Allen, his brother and sister thanks to Mr. L.Connell, also of Find A Grave. I appreciate his message to me. Jan 27. 2013
