Margie Leola Graham was born to George Anderson "Bud" Graham (1875-1975) and Alice Josephine (Allmon) Graham (1879-1972) on Feb 23, 1907 in Collinsville, Grayson County, Texas. She was one of many children. Her parents were married for over 75 years, celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary in 1972 as they had wed Jan 24, 1897 in Collinsville, Texas. They lived in a sod house on a homestead in Oklahoma near Elk City for two years before returning to Collinsville. Their 1st child was born in 1899. Margie's father worked at the Collinsville Bank, employed as bank director from 1931-1961 when he retired at the age of 86. He drove until 1965, when he was 90 yrs. of age.
Jessie came from a family where he was the third of eight children. His grandmother died when he was very young, so his grandfather, William H.Allen, lived with his family until he passed away. Margie married Jessie Dalton Allen (1894-1972) and they had two children, Alice M., b.1927, and George Henry, b.1932. Jessie and the family lived in a variety of places in Grayson County, Texas during the 1930's and 1940's as they attempted to farm during the depression and the "Dust Bowl" era. Times were very hard for their family, but they stayed together and tried to make a living as best they could, and they succeeded, for Jesse and Margie remained in Texas, living on a farm, the last one in the Collinsville area, until he died from a brain aneurysm on April 17, 1972. Jesse was buried at the Collinsville Cemetery in Collinsville, Grayson County, Texas. Margie died next, on Feb 26th, 1999 and is also buried at Collinsville Cemetery in Collinsville. Sadly, George Henry Allen, the younger of their two children, passed away on May 22nd, 2002 at Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas. He was a veteran who served in the Air Force. He is also buried at Collinsville Cemetery, nearby his family. But he lived for 70 years, which is a nice, long, time. Alice is still living and prefers that her last name not be known at this time. Thank you for understanding.
