Mary was the daughter of John & Nancey Mullins Walker.

She was born at Dunns, Virginia.

Eight brothers and sisters were mentioned in the will of her father...Elizabeth Walker Bailey, Sarah "Sally" Walker Bowling, Chrispianos Walker, Margaret Walker Lilly (Meador), Nancy Walker Hatcher, Charles Walker, Cynthia Walker Wright, and Ursala Walker Bailey. All were heirs, with her brother Chrispianos as executor. Eli Bailey, Joseph Wright, & Symms Thompson acknowledged bond, with appraisels by C.W. Calfee, Josiah Ferguson, and B.B. Peck.

She married Samuel Bailey, the son of Richard Bailey II and Isabel Ferguson on 16 August 1816, in Giles county, Virginia; with the letter of consent from her parents signed and recorded.
Both she and her husband inherited acreage from their fathers.
In the 1870 census, Samuel and Mary's household was close to that of her sister Cynthia Walker Wright, Samuel's family, the Shrewsbury family, and next door to Eli & Charlotte Bailey. Samuel was 77 yrs. of age at this census, and Mary was 73. SHE WAS STILL LIVING AT THAT TIME. *

Her grandfather & grand uncles served with Generals Nelson and Lafayette-they were present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown.
Her sons and nephews served in the Confederate Army, War Between the States; her grandsons and great grandsons in other wars. The numbers of her descendants who served (and still serve) this country are sizable.

Thanks to the cousins who provided the extra data to complete the links, you have been so helpful.
It is still uncertain whether markers will ever be found for Samuel and Mary - perhaps, as it has been noted that Eli and Charlotte had none, Samuel and Mary may not, or the markers may not have survived.
*(Various unsourced articles and entries in volumes of history give the "death date" of 1865 for women of that generation; based on life expectancy. It is an ESTiMATE only, and a tool used before online records became available to everyone. Census records prove that several of these grandmothers were alive after the year 1865. I am constantly getting requests to add the incorrect death date of 1865 to memorials, which I will not do - sorry. If your article does not include the exact record from which the author took the date, please read the text of the memorial, and look for a census image. The authors of the articles or histories did what they could with what they could find - only the 1880 census was available until fairly recently - many of them now deceased themselves; their work was never updated).
