Ben was the husband of Evelyn Yon Andrews. He was the son of William Malcolm Andrews, Sr. and Lizzie Taylor Andrews.

A World War II Army Veteran, Ben served in Panama and China with the 396th Signal Company (Aviation). He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the American Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was a graduate of Americus High School. He ran Andrews Dry Cleaning with his brother in the years leading up to WWII. They sold the Dry cleaning company and ran a soda bottling company until his brother's untimely death. Ben was then an insurance agent until his death.

He suffered his first heart attack when his only child was only 18 months old. His second, fatal heart attack occurred 2 years later.

Activated 1 April 1943 at the Western Signal Aviation Unit Training Center, Pinedale, California

Inactivated 13 December 1945 at Fort Lewis, Washington

Reactivated later.
