Eugene Howard Hoover, 75, of Jersey Shore went to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 25, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born Aug 7, 1939 in Lock Haven, the son of Earl and Helen (Ingram) Hoover, and was affectionately referred to as Pop, Dad, Gene and of course Sarge.
Eugene was a U.S. Army veteran serving for over 20 years. He served two tours in Vietnam and three tours in Germany.
Even though he loved his country and served with pride and honor, Eugene had a special spot
in his heart for Germany.
He loved to travel and one of his favorite locations was a winery in upstate New York around the Finger Lakers.
He retired in 2003 from the U.S.Postal Service after over 20 years of service.
Eugene was a member of the American Legion Post #36 and the VFW #5859 in Jersey Shore.
He enjoyed reading his favorite authors Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum, and watching western movies. But most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by a son, Earl A. (Sheila) Hoover of Augusta, Ga.; four daughters, Iris A. (Stacy)Edkin of Jersey Shore, Jennifer A. (Phillip) French of Daleville, Ala., Karen S. (Andy) Angelucci of Annville, and Claudia (Donald) Botsford of Renovo; his grandchildren, Hope Kambakis, Kelsey Hollinger, Kaitlin Brown, Daniel Schaeffer, Fiona Hoover, Shannon Terry, James Edkin, Joseph Edkin, Sarah Cleaver, Mark French, Michelle Cazalas; 21 great-gandchildren, and his special, close friend Jane Cryder.
Besides his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his wife, Ilse A. Hoover and a brother, Charles Hoover.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warriors.
All family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov 15 at the Linnwood Cemetery on Linnwood Drive in McElhattan.

Arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home". Jersey Shore.
