Jane Lloyd Anderson was born in Toronto, Canada , June 27, 1829, and departed this life July 4,1911 at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. R. B. Francis, Holton, Kansas where she made her home.
In 1847 she was married to Robert Anderson. Later they moved to Illinois, living there a few years and then returning to Canada. In 1860 they again came to the United States and settled on what is known as the R. J. Tolin home place near this city. A few months later they moved to the Anderson homestead - a mile North and one west of Soldier, Kansas. There they resided until death called the husband, and for twenty years thereafter Grandma Anderson remained on that place and kept the home open.
Into this home eleven children were born, Marjery 1848 ~ Mary Jane 1850 ~ Isabella 1853 ~William Robert 1855 ~ Arthur 1857 ~ Edward 1860 ~ Clarissa V.1863 ~ Sarah 1865 ~ Alice 1867 ~ Margaret 1869 ~ Joseph A. 1872. Six of whom survive her, there are living 41 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Of her own family, one brother and three sisters survive her.
Mrs. Anderson joined the Methodist church when a child, with long life God has crowned her, and hers were almost all the experiences of life, and now God has taken her to the home that knows no breaking of ties, and to friends who have long been waiting for her coming.
Short service were conducted at the house Wednesday morning by Dr. S.S. Martin, after which the body was brought to Soldier where the funeral was held in the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. B. R. Smith. The pall bearers were son's and grandson's and were Joseph, William, Melvin Tolin, Leslie Anderson, Ross and Paul Francis.
