♫♫ R.I.P. Gefallen in Afghanistan ♫♫

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nils Bruns was born in Stadtoldendorf, Lower Saxony, in 1975. After school he did a professional education as a painter and varnisher.
In 1998, he joined the German military, enrolling with the sappers. In 2004, he was sent to the Kosovo for one year.
In 2005, Nils Bruns decided to enroll with the paratroops and was officially enlisted as a professional soldier in 2006.
Him and his bataillon were then sent to Seedorf, where Nils and his wife settled down. In 2009, Nils Bruns was promoted to the military rank of a Hauptfeldwebel (which is comparable to that of a Master Sergeant). Nils Bruns managed to be a role model of discipline, and at the same time a reliable friend and comrade to his fellow soliers.
On God Friday, in the District of Chahar Darreh, approximately 3.8 miles West of Kunduz, Afghanistan, Nils and his fellow soldiers got into the lines of fire, where himself and two other soldiers sadly lost their lives.
German Chancellor Mrs Angela Merkel and the German Minister of Defence, Dr Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg, attended the Memorial Service for Nils Bruns and his comrades on April 9, 2010, in Selsingen.
Nils Bruns leaves behind his wife and two-year-old daughter, a loving family and many friends and fellow soldiers who will always remember him for all he was.
