Harold Gordon Alford, 87, of Binghamton, New York, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 4, 2009.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Marion Alford; his parents, Egie Rumsey and Chester Alford; his brothers, Harvey and Charlie Alford; two sons in law, Richie Rezucha and Mike Hammitt. He is survived by seven daughters and sons-in-law, Sandee/Kenny Prickett, Maxine/Bill Clift, Candie Rezucha, Darlene/Jerry Earley, VA, Melody/Jerry Brundage, Jill Alford-Hammitt, Melissa Andrews; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike Alford, Kevin/Connie Alford, Kim/Lisa Alford; 33 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Ginny Alford and Bev Goff; three special daughters and families, Bonnie Barr, Marilyn Wilson, Jodi Dale.

He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He has been a long-standing member of the Episcopal Church, serving as acolyte/lay reader/chalice bearer and vestry member; a member of the Harpursville American Legion, serving as CMDR; and Masonic Lodge of Windsor, serving as Grand Master. He was an avid sportsman, golfer, fisherman, hunter and baseball player.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Church, 10 Henry Street, Binghamton, with Rev. James Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Harpursville. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 9, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson.
