Charles, 85, life-long resident of Perry, MI died Wednesday evening. He was the son of Peter & Helen (Petrie) Aldrich.

He moved to the Perry area at the age of 3 to "Brewer Rd Farfame Farm". When he was a teen the family then moved into town where the family started the P.J. Aldrich Furniture Store.

After graduating from Perry High School in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning from the war he attended ACME Business College. On June 25, 1950 he married Joan Rice in Brighton. They were married for 59 years before she predeceased him February 27, 2010. He was an active member of the Perry Congregational Christian Church for many years until his health started to fail. Known to many as "Uncle Charlie", he was beloved and will be missed, especially by his family that survive him, sons Jim (Pat) of Perry, Tom of E. Lansing, daughter Patty (Will) Waterman of Grand Ledge, grandson Matthew Waterman, nieces Linda (Pete) Garno and Sue (Jerry) Dunn. Several Step grandchildren, Eric, Nick, Brian Nohel, Dana & Art Tenbrink, Jason & Kayla Nohel, 8 great grandchildren.

In addition to Joan he was preceded in death by brother John, his wife Rosmary, sister Madora, parents Peter & Helen, niece Sal Harper and her husband Alan.

Charlie with his parents and brother, John, owned and operated the family business for 30 years. After selling the furniture store in 1971, Charlie began a successful career in real estate, owning the Aldrich Associates Real Estate in Perry, retiring in 2006. For the past 3 and a half years he resided at the Olive Branch in Perry.

A memorial service was held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Perry on Sunday May 1, 2011 with Pastor Jim Salo officiating.
