Silas J Abraham, 80, of 804 N Main St died at 8:25am Friday at St James Hospital. He had been ill 18 months. His funeral will be at 2pm Sunday at the First Lutheran Church, with the Rev Orville Kalkwarf officiating. Burial will be in Rowe cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm Saturday at the Raleigh J Harris Funeral Home. He was born July 23,1891, in Pontiac Township, a son of John and Sarah Braland Abraham. He married Jeverna Hetland Jan 14,1915 at Rowe. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs Bessie Walz, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs June Tapke, Normal; two sons, Oliver, Arlington Heights; John, Elmhurst; two sisters, Mrs Alice Erickson, Mrs Martha Pemberton, Pontiac; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and farmed for more that 20 years. He was employed at the Seneca Shipyards for several years after moving to Pontiac. He was custodian at the high school until his retirement in 1960. (The Bloomington Pantagraph, May 6,1972)
