Mildred Louise Walters, 84, of Elliston, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Born May 17, 1924, Mildred was a charter member of Seneca Baptist Church, Elliston, and was a retired employee of GE in Salem. The daughter of the late Noah and Lottie Basham, she was also preceded in death by husband, Willard Aliff; and infant Aliff; her brother, James D. Basham; and second husband, Richard Walters. She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Pete Basham, Ward T. and Betty Basham, all of Shawsville, and Richard "Cleon" and Shelia Basham, of Christiansburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Chick Cline, of Shawsville, Dorothy and Ted Perdue, of Mount Clair, and Carolyn and Tommy Helm, of Elliston, Va.; also 20 nieces and nephews. The family would also like to give a special thanks to our friends at Good Samaritan Hospice and the Montgomery Regional Hospital Staff for making our sister's last days so comfortable. She was a loving and faithful sister and will be missed. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening, May 30, 2008, at the Seneca Baptist Church, Elliston. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Seneca Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Ken Gray and the Rev. John Collins with interment to follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. The Walters family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, Va., Published in the Roanoke Times on 5/30/2008.
