Topeka State Journal Saturday 23 Dec., 1972, pg. 27:

Charles Bruce "Charley" Carney, 86, Hoyt, died Friday in a Topeka hospital where he was admitted Dec. 11 and underwent surgery Dec. 13.
He was born April 17, 1886 at Williamstown and spent his early life in the Williamstown community. He later lived in Topeka and in the Volland community in Wabaunsee County. He lived in the Hoyt community since 1945. He was a farmer before he retired.
He was married to Cora Gilley on March 5, 1913 at Lawrence. She survives.
Other survivors include a foster son, Tommy Dunn, Lovelock, Nev.; and two brothers, J.L. Carney and James Carney, both of Topeka.
Services will be Sunday at Davidson-Duff Funeral Home with burial in Rochester Cemetery.

Charley was Santa for Pelletiers and Crosby Brothers in Topeka, KS during the Christmas holidays.
