2Lt Sam Jojola was an officer in the 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division. He was killed in action on 21 September 1943 near Salerno (Italy). He was first buried in grave A-1-1 of the small temporary American Oliveto cemetery. He was reburied in the bigger temporary American Paestum Cemetery in grave A-9-167.
After the war Lieutenant Jojola was buried in the Sicily Rome Cemetery (Italy) in grave I-11-13
