2Lt Arthur C. Rutter was a crewmember of B-25 medium bomber, tailnumber 41-29684. The plane and crew belonged to the 434th Bomb Squadron, 12th Bomb Group. On 16 October 1943 the plane crashed into the east slope of Mount Etna, near Catania Sicily. All crewmembers were killed in the crash. Lt Rutter was buried in grave I-93-1114. Date of burial was 19 October 1943.

After the war Lt Rutter found his last resting place in a cemetery in Illinois.

Over 1,200 men and women were buried in the GELA Cemetery. I am writing a book about this cemetery and hope to finish it next year (2015).
