Letha, who I called "Mimi," was the grandmother that I never had; as my own maternal grandmother died before I was born, and I didn't get to see my father's mother much, because of my parents' divorce.
Mimi was wonderful to me. She took care of me while my mother worked. She would sew beautiful clothes for me to wear, from the time I was two until I had my last child.
Mimi was a little "southern belle" with beautiful long hair, that was once auburn. She would brush her hair one hundred times each night. She never liked her coloring; wishing that she could've been a brunette instead.
She would tell us stories about her growing up an only child in the deep south, "bribing" other children to come and play with her. She had a pony that other children would ride when they came to visit her.
Mimi was full of funny stories and rhymes that always made us laugh. Do you know that I remember her turning cart wheels when she was in her seventies!
She was instrumental in introducing me to my eternal sweetheart, "G." I can never say enough about this dear woman.
