Garrett W. Aalberts, 90, of Orange City died Friday, October 30, at an Orange City nursing home. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 2, at Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Donald De Glopper and the Rev. Garrett Docter officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.
Aalberts was born October 23, 1902, at Orange City, son of John and Minnie (De Jong) Aalberts. He married Janet Van Veldhuizen February 12. 1925, in Boyden. She died May 31, 1956. at Orange City. He lived all his live in Orange City and moved to the nursing home in 1988. He was a member of Trinity Reformed Church.
Survivors include a son and his wife, John and Aida of Los Banos, California; three daughters and their husbands, Betty and Claude Vander Zwaag of Hull, Arlene and Alvin Bomgaars and Beverly and Rudy Grienke, all of Orange City; a son-in-law and his wife, Bill and Joan Vande Brake of Orange City; daughters-in-law Willie Aalberts and Lori Van't Hof, all of Orange City; a sister, Mina Verdoorn of Orange City; a brother, Edwin of Bemidji, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
