GALIVANTS FERRY - Daniel "D. M." Alford, age 81, husband of Mrs. Mary Frances Sarvis Alford, passed away October 31, 2011 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mr. Alford was born in Conway, SC on February 23, 1930 a son of the late Mr. Daniel Mayberry and Mrs. Mattie Turner Alford.

Mr. Daniel was predeceased by one brother, Julius Alford, and three sisters, Ruby McCracken, Ethel Shelley, and Esta Mae Hardwick.

He was a dedicated member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church where he served the Lord and his church in many different ways. After 20 years of service in the United States Marine Corps., Mr. Alford worked with the Horry County Sheriff's office where he retired as a Chief Sheriff Deputy.

Surviving Mr. Alford is his wife Mary Francis Sarvis Alford of the home; two sons, Justin Alford and his wife Kathy, Danny Alford and his wife Joy, all of Galivants Ferry; one daughter, Denise Richardson and her husband Darrell of Brittons Neck; five grandsons, Chase Alford, Seth Richardson, Jody Alford (Gwen), Hunter Alford, Kelly Alford (Haley), two granddaughters, Bridget Collins (David), Kaylee Richardson, two great grandsons, Will Collins, Carson Collins, and two great grand-daughters, Adaline Alford, and Lydia Alford.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Rehobeth United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Watts, Rev. Sam Clardy, and Rev. Paul Gasque officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
