Douglas Bachman, age 68, of Highland Village, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 9, 1947 in Eveleth, Minnesota to Gordon Alan Bachman and Edith Maxine Suomi Bachman. Douglas married Shirley Prestridge on August 23, 1969 in Denton, Texas. He was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.
Doug enjoyed hunting and fishing. Fishing on the White River in Arkansas was a yearly joy shared with family and friends. Doug also enjoyed competitive sports such as football, baseball, softball, ice hockey, karate and tennis. He also had a love both in listening to and performing music. He faithfully sang in the church choir and in smaller ensemble groups throughout his life.
Doug earned a degree in Medical Technology and became a Medical Laboratory Director for more than 40 years. He was a devoted man of science. He was a man of many talents and he wore many hats. He worked in law enforcement, as a medical lab inspector, as a chief medical examiner and investigator, and as an airplane pilot.
Doug was kind and selfless to all but especially with his family and friends. He freely gave whatever was his to give . . . . in deeds, in gifts, in sacrifice and mostly in love.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Jeff Douglas Bachman and Jennifer Lynn Burgess; grandchildren, Matthew Bachman, Melanie Bachman and Collyn Burgess and sister, Sandra Cimperman.
