Helen C. Halik, a former Ossining resident, died December 23 [2001] at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. She was 90. She was born May 21, 1911 in Steubenville, Ohio to Prokop and Xenia Smalex Chowka. She was the former registrar for the City of Yonkers Board of Education.
She is survived by her son, Joseph J. Halik and daughter-in-law Linda Halik, and two grandchildren, Scott and Jennifer Halik, all of North Reading, Massachusetts.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining. A funeral Mass was held at St. Paul's Church in Leesburg, Florida. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg, Florida. Donations may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160.
