Well known outstanding athlete Ronald Wesley Fuller, 60, of Pompey Hollow Road, Cazenovia, passed away July 24, 2007 after a long illness. He was born on Nov. 13, 1946 in Syracuse to H. Wesley and Grace Fuller. Ron was a physical education teacher and coach in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District for 35 years, having retired in the spring of 2002. Ron was affectionately known as "Deed" to close family and friends. Ron graduate from Cazenovia High School and Ithaca College. He received his master's degree from SUNY Cortland. He was a member of the Cazenovia Golf Club and the Cazenovia Club. Ron was well known in Central New York, Section III and New York State as a tennis coach for Fayetteville-Manlius schools. His teams were Section III champs 15 out of 33 years and won the Onondaga County Tournament 25 out of 33 years. They have won more than 120 consecutive league tennis matches during his coaching years. Among his many professional awards he received the New York State Coaches Association Honor Award. He also received the Virginia and Chuck Landis High School Coach of the Year Award, a national award given by the United States Tennis Association. He was well known throughout his life as an outstanding athlete in all sports. He especially loved golf and tennis, having won many local tournaments. His favorite matches were those with his boys and close friends on what he called the "Fuller Tour," a weekly golf event at various local courses for whoever chose to play. Ron's love of sport was evident in his never missing a match, game or contest that his sons participated in. He was often seen on the sideline or in the bleachers keeping stats or scores, cheering the boys on. He was the ultimate "good sport" in every way. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, the former Jane Elizabeth Hixson and three sons, Jonathan E. Fuller (Carrie) of Syracuse, Michael W. Fuller of Brooklyn and Peter H. Fuller of Buffalo; three brothers, Gordon V. Fuller and Glenn W. Fuller of Cazenovia and Clifford Fuller of Schenectady; two sisters, Rita J. Freuder of Durham, N.H. and Carol L. Fuller of Buffalo; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Edward G. Hixson (Karen) of Saranac Lake and Dr. F. Peter Hixson (Kathy) of Cazenovia and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28 at the First Presbyterian Church, Cazenovia. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements: The Tait Funeral Home Inc. Contributions may be made to CAVAC, P.O.
