Carol was born in Colorado. She was born 4 weeks premature and was a breech baby, the only one of her siblings born in the hospital. Her early years were spent in Colorado until her family moved to Salem, Oregon.

She married James Richard Humphrey and they had two daughters before moving to San Diego, California.

She married Duane W. McBride and was stepmother to his daughter, Debbie, for five years.

She married Harold Edgar Sommers in 1969 and he legally adopted her two daughters a year later. Harold died the following year.

In 1979, she married Harold's best friend, James Michael Brown. She often called him, "The Love of My Life." Jim died in 1998.

Carol moved to Cedar City, Utah to live near her daughter, Cherie, and a few years later died of lung cancer.

She had 19 grandchildren/step-grandchildren that she loved dearly.
