Eleanor was born February 24, 1923, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Kenner and Lelia Ann (Weaver) Baker. She was reared and educated in West Virginia and Elizabeth, New Jersey. She graduated from Battin High School in Elizabeth in 1942. She attended Iowa State University. Eleanor married Joseph W. Anderson on Jun 19, 1942, at the First Baptist Church of Elizabeth, New Jersey. Eleanor worked as a clerk/typist during WWII. Joe worked for General Electric and the couple lived in seven different states before moving to Arkansas City in 1963. Eleanor was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arkansas City, the Edith Cox Guild, PEO Chapter PO, and South Central Kansas Medical Center Auxiliary. She served on several community boards including The Presbyterian Manor, Red Cross, Cowley County Hospice.
Survivors include her husband of over 70 years Joe of the home; six nephews two nieces, and a host of friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials have been established with the First Presbyterian Church or South Central Kansas Medical Center Auxiliary. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
