Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m,. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Bible Christian Church in Arkansas City.
Karl was born July 19, 1944 to Doctor Forest Burkett and Mary Louise (Eitner) Burkett in Waynesburg, PA. He joined the United States Army and served 21 years retiring in February of 1984. Karl then worked for Ellsworth Motor Freight Lines and Rob Carroll Sandblasting. He was a member of the Bible Christian Church and the Masons.
Karl is survived by his wife, Virginia Burkett of the home; children, Karla Cook and husband, Phil of Ft. Scott; Karl Burkett, Jr and wife, Krista of Arkansas City, Mary Bowlby and husband, Robert of South Haven, James Burkett and wife, Kim of Frederick, CO; sisters, Patricia Bushta of Clarksville, PA and Deborah Kennedy of Arkansas; 10 grandchildren, Austin and Madison Cook, Gracie Burkett, Lillian, Leah and Lilah Bowlby, Landon, Riley, Taylor and Zane Burkett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Paul, Dave and Ron Burkett.
A memorial has been established with the Bible Christian Church of Arkansas City.
