Fred was only five years old when his parents made the historical land run across" the Kansas border to stake out free land in Oklahoma Territory which later became a state. They arrived late (2 weeks)for the day of the run, and ended up having to travel to the southern end of the state to near what is now Fort Sill to stake a claim. He grew up in Oklahoma, moving to South Haven sometime between 1911and 1917. after starting his family, and became a farmer. They sold the farm in 1948 and moved to Blackwell Ok.
His ancestors came from Ireland in the mid 1600’s
