Brother Kenneth Ray Akers, age 69, of Russellville, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Russellville Hospital.
Brother Akers was a native of Marion County but had lived in Franklin County for the past 32 years. He was a member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church, Russellville, a deacon at the church and a licensed Baptist preacher. He was the owner of Akers Cabinet Shop.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Pinkard Funeral Home chapel, Russellville, with Brother Ray Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Church Cemetery, Phil Campbell. Visitation was Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Survivors include his spouse, Agnes Louise Akers, of Russell--ville; children, Vicki Murray (Arrie), of Russellville, Kenny Akers (Shelia), of Muscle Shoals, Lorri Kimbrough (Mark), of Phil Campbell, Greg Akers (Carol Ann), of Florence, Shane Akers (Angel), of Tuscumbia, and Kristie McAfee (Daniel), of Spruce Pine; sisters, Katherine Atchison, Maylene, and Louise Kochvich (Frank), of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Todd Hill, Billy Akers, Molly Edmonson, Cindy Akers, Ashley Kimbrough, Hannah Akers, Patrick Akers, Heather Clemons, Jon Clemons, Breanna Watson, Victoria Watson, Tiffany Fuller and Slater Fuller; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Akers, Josh Willis, Bennie Ballard, Don Gentry, Zack Motes and Jon Clemons. Honorary pallbearer will be Eugene Harmon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Camual Ray and Ethel Lee Ballard Akers.
Pinkard Funeral Home, of Russellville, is directing.
