Klaus-Gerhard "Gary" Adkins, 57, lost his 10-month battle with cancer Aug. 28, 2011. Gary was born and spent his childhood in Germany. He resided in Alabama for 48 years. A graduate of Russellville High School and a graduate of UAB, he retired from UAB after 25 years in December. Gary looked forward to traveling after his retirement. He had many friends and was loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Adkins. He is survived by special friend, Reynolds Shoock; mother, Lisa Adkins; father, Paul Adkins; sister, Judy Hargett (Gary); brother, Michael Adkins (Hope); and his beloved nephews, Clayton and Dylan Adkins.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Unity Church of Birmingham, 2803 Highland Ave., Birmingham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Unity Church of Birmingham or to your favorite charity.
